LONDON ? The U.K. video-on-demand streaming service LoveFilm, owned and operated by Amazon, has struck a deal with Nintendo's Wii home console to offer gamers access to movies including The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn ? Part 1 and TV shows Downton Abbey.
LoveFilm will also launch on Nintendo?s new high definition home console Wii U "shortly," the company said.
There are around eight million U.K. Wii users, boosting LoveFilm's potential customer base.
The LoveFilm Instant service offers users unlimited movies and TV series instantly via their Internet-connected Wii console from ?4.99 ($8) per month.
The service will launch this month with Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, Christopher Nolan?s Inception and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn ? Part 1 starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
Every season of Downton Abbey and the first seven seasons of U.S. medical drama Grey?s Anatomy will also be available.
LoveFilm Instant is now available on a complete range of living room devices including Amazon?s Kindle Fire HD, Sony's PlayStation3, Apple's iPad and Xbox 360 in addition to the Wii, plus a growing number of Blu-ray players and Internet-connected TVs.
LoveFilm managing director Jim Buckle said: "Launching on the Wii, combined with our impending arrival on the Wii U, is great news for our members."
